Battaglia's Tenure as San Miguel Coach Ends

Sebastián Battaglia's cycle as coach of San Miguel came to an end this Saturday, after the 2-2 draw against Quilmes on matchday 11 of the Primera Nacional. The 'Trueno Verde' was leading 2-0 at home but couldn't maintain the advantage and dropped points again, which led to the managerial decision.

The former Boca player, who took over at the beginning of the year with high expectations, failed to consolidate an idea or take advantage of the club's ambitious transfer market. The start of the cycle was promising, with a victory against Tristán Suárez and a positive streak at home, but doubts quickly emerged: San Miguel did not win any of its away matches and had accumulated six games without a win, with five draws and one loss.

Despite the significant reinforcements like Brahian Alemán, Cristian Erbes, Gino Peruzzi, and Agustín Lavezzi, the team never found consistency and was positioned eighth in Zone A. The club's official account announced the coach's departure, thanking him for his work and wishing him success in the future.

Battaglia leaves Los Polvorines with a record of three wins, five draws, and three losses in eleven matches, having failed to meet the expectations created at the beginning of the tournament. The 'Verde's' project aimed high, with the hope of entering the fight for promotion, but the team's present is far from that goal.

The doubts in play, the points lost at the end, and the inability to make a squad full of important names work ultimately sealed Battaglia's fate.
